The Journey Continues – Elite Training for Serious Students
At Pacific International Taekwondo, earning your black belt is not the destination – it’s the beginning of a deeper journey. True mastery requires years of dedicated practice, refinement, and continuous learning under expert guidance.
Our advanced training program ensures that black belts, instructors, and senior students have access to specialized instruction that takes their skills to the highest levels. This is where technique is perfected, knowledge is deepened, and the next generation of instructors is developed.
Black Belt is Just the Beginning
In traditional Taekwondo, earning a black belt means you have mastered the fundamentals and are now ready to truly learn. It’s why the belt is black – you’ve absorbed the basics, now it’s time to go deeper. For black belts at Pacific International Taekwondo, the training continues with increased focus on:
- Technical precision – Refining every movement to the highest standard
- Advanced patterns – More complex forms requiring years to master
- Leadership skills – Learning to teach and mentor junior students
- Deep understanding – The philosophy, history, and principles behind techniques
- Instructor development – For those who aspire to teach

Specialized Advanced Training
Beyond regular classes, Pacific International Taekwondo provides specialized training opportunities for advanced students, black belts, and instructors. These sessions are led by our most senior instructors:
- Grandmaster Trevor Dicks – 9th Dan
- Master Instructor Margaret Dicks – 7th Dan
- Master Instructor Lonny Too – 6th Dan
These special training sessions focus on:
For Grading Preparation: Students preparing for higher belt examinations receive focused instruction on the specific requirements for their next rank. This intensive preparation ensures students are thoroughly ready and confident when they step up to grade.
For Instructor Development: Current and aspiring instructors receive advanced training in teaching methodology, class management, technique refinement, and leadership. These sessions maintain the high instructional standards Pacific International Taekwondo is known for.
For Technical Mastery: Advanced training in complex techniques, combinations, and applications that go beyond what’s taught in regular classes. This is where the art of Taekwondo is explored at its deepest levels.
The Path to Mastery
Progress beyond black belt follows a structured path through the Dan ranks,
each requiring increasing levels of skill, knowledge, and time:
- 1st Dan (Black Belt) – Foundation of advanced training
- 2nd Dan – Technical refinement and teaching ability
- 3rd Dan – Mastery of fundamentals, beginning of true expertise
- 4th Dan and Beyond – Deep knowledge, leadership, and contribution to the art
Each Dan rank requires not just technical skill, but also character development, teaching ability (for those who become instructors), and commitment to the principles of Taekwondo. Time requirements between ranks increase with each level, reflecting the depth of learning required.
Who Participates in Advanced Training
