Foot sparring (Chokki Taeryon/ Bal Matsogi)

IMG_0433

FOOT SPARRING (Chokki Taeryon/ Bal Matsogi)

As the name signifies, in foot sparring only the feet are used, to execute all types of kicks for attacking and defensive purposes.

“The significance of this sparring is to promote the kicking techniques required in Taekwon-Do.” – Gen. Choi Hong Hi (Vol.5, p.259)

Foot sparring is a “symbolized form of sparring developed from the ancient Korean art of “Taek Kyon” and “Soo Bak Gi” which mainly relied on the feet. […] Since both attack and defense are performed with the foot, hand techniques are not allowed to be used in this particular sparring.” – Gen. Choi Hong Hi (Vol.5, p.259)
